I'm taking a course on Parrots, their selection, care and breeding, and one of the species of parrots mentioned was the Lories. They seem like a beautiful small bird [5 inches for some] and I'm told make good pets and can talk. The only draw back is that they need a nectar diet and thus produce very wet stools if it can be called that. They are therefore very messy to keep, due to this spraying. It seems very little has been written about them, but in resent years nectar products have been developed, and if the nectar is given in powder form , the bird will have a more solid dropping. I guess what I'm after, is someone who has/is a Lorie fancier, and can give me any advice on the subject. I have never kept/owned a bird so I am a real novice. Also, has anyone ever owned/have knowledge of these new acrylic bird cages on the market, advertised in pet mags. as a means of controlling feathers and dust. Do air ionizers work? How about the kind that skrew into the celling outlet? Thanks in advance for any info. If possible, please try to message me at the address given below.
