[rec.birds] Tame and wild bird meet

freds@legs.UUCP (Fred Sieg) (09/01/90)

Yesterday I posted about the blue jay coming on our table to get some
peanuts.

Well, this morning I walked out on the patio with Chantee (our cockatoo)
on my arm. The blue jay (or maybe it's a scrub jay) was sitting on the
patio and started screeching at me. I got some peanuts in my hand,
walked over to him and offered my hand. He hopped down on a piece of
wood hanging from the patio, snatched the peanut and flew off. All the
while Chantee was on my other arm observing. She did raise her crown
when the jay grabbed the peanut from my hand.
I tossed the rest of the peanuts on the table and my wife, Chantee, and
I sat down for coffee and grooming. The jay re-appeared on the table
until the peanuts were gone. Chantee will either watch him or pretend
not to notice 'cause she's *busy* grooming. The jay doesn't seem to care
at all.

BTW, in light of the inappropriate posting thread (which I find anywhere
from sad to offensive), where and how should I have posted this story?
rec.pets? with INDOOR header? OUTDOOR header?
I know! INDOOR:OUTDOOR (except those offended by INDOOR)
