Date: 24 Nov 1982 16:45 EST I received a letter from C. R. Greene of AT&T today. Portions are listed below (without permission): "In response to requests from users of UNIX* Operating Systems, the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) will license a new, supported UNIX Operating System - UNIX System V - early next year.... Source licensees will be able to obtain several levels of software support from AT&T including periodic releases to correct problems, newsletters, electronic mail to report problems, hotline service, consultation, and technical seminars.... Details will be announced in January 1983." The letter goes on to discuss AT&T's plan for UNIX as a machine-independant operating system for 16-bit and 32-bit computers, etc. Anyone else get the letter and/or have more information?? What happened to System IV?? Don Wegeng Xerox Corp Rochester, NY Wegeng.WBST@Parc-Maxc (arpa) seismo!rochester!rocksvax!dw (uucp) intelqa!rocks34!dw (uucp)
