Well not the first cuckoo, some species never left, but I heard my first koel of the season this evening. Andrew, who would like to hear a cuckoo go "cuckoo" for once

Fantail cuckoos have been singing in and near Adelaide for at least a month now, and two weeks ago I saw my first Horsfield Bronze-cuckoo for the season. (Along with Jim Lee from Princeton, who saw his first, ever. How're ya goin', Jim?) One more arrival on Sunday - a pair of Sacred Kingfishers. It's easy to forget just how pretty they are. -- Bill Venables, Dept. of Statistics, | Email: venables@spam.adelaide.edu.au Univ. of Adelaide, South Australia. | Phone: +61 8 228 5412
