Thomas Wetmore has quite correctly pointed out to me that I am mistaken in referring to Cape Spear, Newfoundland, as the 'most easterly point in North America', since the 'westernmost' Aleutian Islands are located between 170 and 180 degrees EAST. Nonetheless, they are on this side of the International Date Line, as far as I can determine, and so I stand by my assertion that anyone at Cape Spear before dawn is likely to be the first in the North America to see the sun rise that day... I am willing to be corrected on this too, however. Does this mean that accidentals on Attu should appear in Peterson's Field Guide to the Birds of Eastern North America? :-) :-) *************************************************************************** David Graham dgraham@kean.ucs.mun.ca ***************************************************************************
