Is anyone aware of avian semen extenders? There are two aspects to this. Firstly, to increase the quantity of the semen so that it can be split into several lots. Secondly, as a means to extend the time during which the sperm remain potent - days rather than hours. Ideally, I would like to take semen from a bird, split it into several donations, mail it to the various people who have the females, and have some grounds for expecting fertile eggs. The species in question are likely to be: European (northern) goshawk, Accipiter gentilis redtailed hawk, Buteo jamaicensis Ferruginous hawk, Buteo regalis Scottish peregrine, Falco peregrinus Harris' hawk, Parabuteo uncintus (sp?) email will be fine. --- Jonathan ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sender : Jonathan M Spencer Mail : Computing Lab, University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 7RU, UK Phone : +91 222 8229 ARPA : J.M.Spencer%newcastle.ac.uk@cs.ucl.ac.uk JANET : J.M.Spencer@uk.ac.newcastle UUCP : !ukc!newcastle.ac.uk!J.M.Spencer
