White Arctic Gyrfalcon Stolen A white Arctic Gyrfalcon was stolen from its owner here in Boise Friday (November 15, 1990). The falcon is obviously very rare and valuable. The bird is a male Gyrfalcon in full adult plumage. He is 8 years old. He is pure white on the chest with black and white barring on the wings and back. He was raised in captivity at Cornell University by the Peregrine Fund and is imprinted on humans. Any information which can lead to the return of this bird is gratefully appreciated. The investigation is continuing in the Boise, Idaho area. However, we are concerned that he may already have been removed from the state and maybe even the United States. If you have information, you may contact me directly. My wife works with the owner of the bird. Unfortunately, I will be out of town over Thanksgiving weekend. Therefore, any time-critical information should be forwarded directly to: Frank NeSmith Idaho State Fish and Game (208) 334-3700 All state and Federal officials have been notified so you should be able to contact a local U.S. Fish and Wildlife officer also. Officials in Canada and Mexico have been alerted also. Thank you for your attention. Mike Nickerson Hewlett-Packard (208) 323-3264
