Does anyone know of a place to stay at this time of year south of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on the Outer Banks of North Carolina? I am interested in any type of accommodation: motel, B&B, efficiency, even a private home whose owners would not mind taking in a wandering birder for a few days between Christmas and New Year. Many places close down during the winter, but the birding at the refuge is excellent at this time of year (weather permitting). I ordinarily would stay at Nags Head, but the bridge across Oregon Inlet has recently been damaged, so the only way to get across the Inlet is via a 1-hour ferry ride: ok as a one-shot deal, but maybe a bit much to do twice a day. Any suggestions are welcome. Send e-mail messages to bmann@desire.wright.edu or bmann@wsu.bitnet. Thanks. - Barbara Mann, Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio
