Would the falconers on the net be interested in discussing our sport in this forum? There won't be much traffic so we won't be 'taking over' the birders group, especially if we include 'falconry' in the subject line. So who's interested? --Jonathan =========================================================================== From : Jonathan M Spencer Mail : Computing Lab., University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 7RU, England Phone : +91 222 8229 ARPA : J.M.Spencer%newcastle.ac.uk@cs.ucl.ac.uk JANET : J.M.Spencer@uk.ac.newcastle UUCP : !ukc!newcastle.ac.uk!J.M.Spencer ===========================================================================

I'd be very interested in seeing more stuff about falconry. I'm not a falconer myself but have always been interested in it...basically I think any information about raptors is interesting. Kathleen jespah@milton.u.washington.edu

I watch this newsgroup for my wife who is a licensed falconer. I would probably contribute occassionally. Actually, the only reason I follow this group is that raptors and falconry are sometimes discussed. Mike Nickerson miken@hpdmd48.boi.hp.com

I sure find falconry more intresting and nearer ordinary birding than pet birds, so I think it is ok to discuss it in this group. But it probably is a good idea to include FALCONRY in the subject line in case there are birders (or petbird owners) not intrested in the subject. Annika Forsten, Finland

I'm all for it. I am both a falconer and a birder I know that there are many discussions in this group that would benefit from "cross-discipline" input. To those who are inclined to lump falconry in with pet birds as a topic that doesn't belong in this group, consider this: Falconry is an outdoor activity. It involves both human-wildlife interaction and wildlife-wildlife interaction, both frequent topics in this group. In addition there are many raptor and raptor behaviour notes. As an example of such a "cross-discipline" discussion. Two months ago my peregrine was shot. It is now recovering from the broken wing it received. I posted a note requesting info/suggestions from rehabbers or anyone who had experience with this type on injury. (Actually, I suspect that the posting never went out to the net due to a problem with our note server - let me know if I should re-post it.)
