[rec.birds] Pigeon Control

RHG@psuvm.psu.edu (02/15/91)

I'm gathering material on the control of municipal pigeon populatons
by the use of birth-control substances. Does anyone out there know
of a town that successfully or unsuccessfully has used the technique?
Anyone know of sources of other pigeon-control materials?

Get a pair of peregrine falcons! They're beginning to pop up in a
number of cities. They're efficient, safe for the environment, and
tourists love them!

(honest, a few cities have actually hacked falcons for just this purpose!)

In he summer of 1984, I saw official posters in Venice, Italy announcing that the Commune had started feeding contraceptive chemicals to the pigeons, and, until further notice, citizens were advised not to eat them.

Honest!
