I'm gathering material on the control of municipal pigeon populatons by the use of birth-control substances. Does anyone out there know of a town that successfully or unsuccessfully has used the technique? Anyone know of sources of other pigeon-control materials? Robert Gannon

In he summer of 1984, I saw official posters in Venice, Italy announcing that the Commune had started feeding contraceptive chemicals to the pigeons, and, until further notice, citizens were advised not to eat them. Honest! Maurice Herlihy
