One thing that has really improved my abilities as a bird watcher, and also my enjoyment of this activity, is knowing the songs of many of the birds occurring in the eastern U.S. For this I have relied primarily on the 2 record set put out I believe by the Audobon Society and following the order of the Peterson guide for the eastern U.S. In fact I didn't trully appreciate how much I had come to rely on songs as an identifaction tool until I travelled to Europe and tried bird watching there. Hence I would like to learn the songs of the various European birds and was wondering if anyone could recommend recordings and where these might be purchased. Thanks in advance. There is a Swedish (in English) series of 15 records (LP) which you can also buy as tapes.I think they include all European species plus some vagrants. These records are by Jeffrey Boswall, etc. There is now a new series on cd by Roche. There are 4 cd's now. I just bought them yesterday so I haven't yet had a chance to check them out. I also don't know whether there will be more of them. But I've heard that they are good. I believe you can get both, if not from the ABA, at least from the Natural History Book Service (England). Let me know if you need the adress. Annika Forsten, Finland
