[net.unix-wizards] Answer to where is System IV UNIX

rfs (12/01/82)

As one of the sidelights to the announcement of UNIX System V,
someone asked what happened to System IV. In answer to this, System IV
was an internal product only, which was a direct extension from the
System III software made available last year. It offered significant
performance improvements over System III; particularly for the VAX
family. System V follows from System IV with similar performance
improvements, new features, and bug fixes. If you have already
converted to System III, the conversion to System V will be fairly easy.
