=============================================================================== First `Euro Bird Week' at Texel in October 1991 =============================================================================== An international meeting for European Birders will be held on the famous bird island Texel, Noord-Holland, the Netherlands, from Saturday 12 to Sunday 20 October 1991. The aim of this meeting is to stimulate contacts between European birders and to exchange knowledge on bird identification. All birders are invited to come to Texel, an island well-known for its geese, shorebirds, migrant passerines and rarities. The last few years have included records of Cream-coloured Courser Cursorius cursor, American Golden Plover Pluvialis dominica, Red-flanked Bluetail Tarsiger cyanurus and Eye-browed Thrush Turdus obscurus. During the day, the participants of the meeting can go out birding (there will be walkie-talkies available plus information boards). During the evening, people can attend lectures and a mystery-bird competition. There will be also be a subsidiary meeting concerned with the work of the European rarities committees and identification matters. This meeting will only be open to a small group of participants. The first Euro Bird Week will be organised by Belgium Birding Magazine, Dutch Birding and Limicola. It will be sponsored by a number of European bird journals (including Dansk Ornithologisk Forening Tidsskrift, Lintumies, Notatki Ornitologiczne and Var Fagelvarld).
