Well, sorry to hear that I can't get info on the two banded Canadas I saw quicker, in this age of electronic networks and such. All my observations are on their way now to the USFWS via USMAIL... Question 2: What is the definitive source for the family names (and common names, and genus/species, etc.) of the birds of North America? I retyped a checklist I was given, adding family names, which I took from my Golden Guide. At least for one bird, the Water Pipit (in the checklist, this is American Pipit now, right?) my instructor's Peterson's guide gave Alaudidae, while my Golden, and the NGS guide, say Motacillidae. The guide(s) are apparently out of sync -- what is the best current reference for this info? Thanks, Steve Tirone
