In order to allow the CCE types to use unix, why not provide either a special command interpreter ( not really a UNIX shell, it would have the command translations wired in ) or a secondary command set. This kind of emulation was done in Eunice. An alternative would be to provide a set of 'CCE manager commands', chosen to be different from all current systems' command sets, and ADD them to all the systems. Either of these proposals would result in maintanance nightmares, the latter probably worse that the former. But if we HAVE to d this CCE stuff, then it makes more sense to retain compatibility for the great majority of users, old scripts, etc, than to throw all this away to create partial compatability for the relativly few system administrators who work on more than one or two systems.
