[rec.birds] bird travel information

deby@cs.utwente.nl (Rolf de By) (05/25/91)

Hi,

Here in Europe we have some people running "Bird Travel Information Services",
i.e., they collect trip reports from birders who have travelled abroad, and they
distribute these reports on a request basis to other birders. The costs are
low (generally photocopying, postage and small handling fee). The number
of countries covered is incredible. The quality of the reports generally varies.

My question is whether such a service exists in North America, as I suspect that
there may have been more North American birders who have visited Latin America
than Europeans. (For my next trip to Bolivia I have only been able to obtain
one trip report here in Europe.)

I will summarize to you in a few weeks from now, and will include the adresses
of the European services then.

Regards,

Rolf
