There have been several articles in this group recently about the use of start conditions in lex. The articles have implied, as the documentation does also, that they number of start conditions is not a concern. I found that some specs I wrote. (My first significant lex specifications used too many) I got the following diagnostic: 30: (Error) Start conditions too long In fact, I had too prune it down to only four start conditions before it would pass through lex.
