[rec.birds] Strafed by Crows, revisited

malc@cs.unr.edu (Malcolm L. Carlock) (06/09/91)

It turns out that the two crows who have been terrorizing people where I
work are the parents of FIVE nearly-grown offspring, whom they have been
taking around the neighborhood for flying lessons. Apparently the swooping
"attacks" and general intimidation of outsiders began not long after one of
the babies fell from the nest (it's not clear whether they got him back
into the nest; at least one person here thinks they did.)

I shall therefore refrain from packing the powerful squirtgun I was
beginning to consider (I've also since discovered that, so far, I can
be swooped indefinitely without being attacked -- and that I can hear the
rush of air as one or the other descends toward me from behind. Amazing.)
