I posted a letter on Tuesday about a robins nest that had fallen,
leaving three babies abandoned. After recieving all the responses from
the net, I went home that evening, dug up some
worms, prepared some eggs and went out to feed them. On my way up the
ladder, two robins (I assume the parents) started flying at me and
chirping. They did not want me near the kids. I was relieved they came
back. The parents were not going to the babies though, they were just
patrolling the area. My wife and I decided to give them another day and
just leave them alone. It got cold yesterday and really windy. We were
worried that the nest would fall again, or the babies would get sick
from exposure. When we got home from work, we were elated to see the
mother back in the nest.
I checked on the kids this morning, while mom-robin was out getting
breakfast and they were alert and hungry.
Many thanks to everyone who sent a response.
Doug
