[rec.birds] Aberration in robin's call

rk30+@andrew.cmu.edu (Ruth Kline) (06/22/91)

One of my neighborhood robins seems to have
developed his/her own song style. During the
"evening" or "rain" song (sorry I don't know
the correct ornithological term), this bird
inserts three extra notes, something like G-D-G
or A-E-A. Kind of nice, and certainly unique to
my ears. Is this a common occurrence among birds?
Is it an inherited trait? Thanks for any info!
