i hear rumors of a small-scale invasion of brown pelicans in the southern plains. north to south dakota and east to missouri. what do you know about these birds? is anything similar taking place in the east (birds north of cape may, for example?)? [so far as i know, none has settled in to being chaseable yet.] thanks, rick wright

Concerning brown pelicans on the east coast north of Cape May, I just had a voice mail message left on my machine overnight saying that a BP was seen in the river inlet just south of Sandy Hook at the northern end of the NJ coast on Friday 6/21/91. There were also 12+ birds seen at the Barnegat Inlet, half way up the coast, on Monday, 6/17/91. I haven't seen mine yet for 1991, so I've got to get out there soon. Rich Ditch Bellcore 908-758-2284
