A couple weeks ago I purchased the Radio Shack Pro 2005 scanner. Thus far I am quite pleased with the unit. Using only my 3/4 wave 2 Meter ground plane, I have picked up stations all over creation. Even some FMBCB DX from about 450 miles away (the audio quality on WFM surprised me, the set could be used as a mono hifi tuner) I would like to hear from others who have this scanner, to share tips and so forth... Has anyone tried connecting the 2005 to the 70 MHz output of a satellite dish, and using it as a SCPC receiver? This should be possible. I am contemplating adding a dish soon, and AUDIO is my prime interest. If you have not tried it, how about someone with the requisite setup giving it a shot, and tuning to a satellite with known SCPC transmissions (I think WESTAR 4 has a bunch) and passing along their findings. WHAT ABOUT FLTSATCOM? On what frequencies can one find satellite transmissions with clear voice? I remember reading an article a few years back that one could pick up military satellite transmissions from the geostationary FLTSATCOM. Is this still the case, or have emissions modes changed? I have been enjoying listening to the 200-400 military band. Lots of transmissions on the SAC channels (I am near K.I. Sawyer AFB)... This alone makes the scanner worth the money. I have not clipped any diodes yet, since there is precious little in the 800 mhz region here in the hinterlands. Federal Express is up there, and so far they have the entire range to themselves. Any recommendations regarding organizations or newsletters that could increase one's enjoyment of the wide spectrum the 2005 can receive? I already get POPCOM and MONITORING TIMES... What about SCMA? Do they have things besides giving specific frequencies and ten codes for cities I will never visit?
