[rec.video] Sony XBR's and EGA/VGA

stratton@mrsvr.UUCP (Ninja Programmer) (10/26/88)

I have a question for all you computer, video experts. I have
a Sony 27" XBR monitor TV. I am about to purchase an AT clone,
with a VGA video board. What I want to know, is it possible to
hook my Sony XBR up to my VGA AT? I know, the XBR will not be
able to display the really high resolutions, ( I think the XBR
has a resolution of 640X400) but shouldn't it be able to run
all the CGA and EGA, software I have? Do I need to any special
cables? (I don't have all the specs. on the XBR with me at work,
but I know it has an RGB input, as well as several composite
video inputs. I can get the docs. and post more info if needed.)

I would really like to get some info on this, and I hear that
this may be the best place to get it. I can't afford the VGA
monitor right now, (besides I don't have any software that uses
the better resolution) but I would like to get the 16 bit version
of the card, because I here it is mega-faster than the old EGA's.
