It seems that a number of people have been caught out by the absence of digital sound playback on the Sony LDP3600. Two people on the net I've heard from have both had problems with playing PAL digital sound discs on this player. One of them had even sent the player back to Sony and been charged over US$300 to look at the "problem". The bottom line appears to be that this catches people out badly. The only players that will be able to play all discs, NTSC or PAL are two domestic models. The Pioneer CLD1450 (only available in the UK) and the Sony MDP515 (only available in West Germany) can play all LDs and all CDs. I would guess that Voyager's adapter for Pioneer SR remote connectors should be able to allow a computer to command the CLD1450. Meantime, beware the Sony LDP3600! It will not play normal PAL discs, only specially mastered, custom Interactive Video PAL LaserDiscs. I hope Sony come to their senses in the near future, and make a multi- standard industrial player that will play normal PAL discs. Can these also play the "CD Video"-disks? (BTW, how widespread is this
format?)

I saw the SONY MDP-515 at the duty free shops at Schipol international airport in holland. I wish I had known it existed. It appears to be the same as the MDP-510, except it operats on 110 - 240 v and plays PAL, NTSC, and SECAM. I'd have bought the 515 instead of the 510 if I had known about it.
