[rec.video] info. needed on converting NTSC to digital YUV

anantha@arches.berkeley.edu (Anantha Chandrakasan) (04/15/91)

I am designing a real-time video compression board that
needs a converter from a standard composite NTSC signal or
S-Video signal to digital YUV (640x480 pixels) signal.

I would appreciate if anybody can provide information on
chips that I can use to design such converter. I am
already aware of the Philips chip set (8702, 7191 etc.),
but its poor documentation is proving to be a bottleneck.
I was wondering if there are any other chip sets around
that will let me implement the above.

Thanks,

anantha

There's also supposed to be a Digital Television Evaluation Module (DTEM)
from Philips which uses those chips, and at least the schematics in
the docs for it might be helpful... or perhaps even the board itself.
