Sigh. I've been flooded with mail from people saying that either their site hasn't got r.a.s.info as a new group, or they have, but they've received no new articles. FYI, to date, I have posted 7 articles with a world distribution. What I would appreciate your doing, for those of you that can, is to go to your news servers, and look for the junk directory. See if there is an entry for r.a.s.info there. If so, then your site has probably been told about the group, and it is receiving the articles I post, but it has opted not to propagate it. In that event, you need to talk to whoever manages news at your site and try to talk them into propagating the group. Any site which propagates r.a.s. will probably be willing to propagate r.a.s.info. Please use discretion here - don't badger your sys-admins unrelentlessly. I don't want to cause problems that threaten the group's existance. People have written to me saying "I can't get the group, please cross-post articles in the group to r.a.s until I can". The purpose of r.a.s.info is not to replace r.a.s., any more than the purpose of rec.humor.funny is to replace rec.humor. The purpose of the group is to weed out discussions, garbage, and other line noise and provide a source of Star Trek information with a significantly high signal-to-noise ratio. I don't expect people to post exclusively to r.a.s.info. What I'd prefer is if you have something of interest, post it to r.a.s., and then submit it to me. This goes for after all of the problems are resolved, as well as for right now.
