In article <12269@hacgate.UUCP> meyer@wwiii.HAC.COM (Mike Meyer) writes: As far as Wilde goes, one of his friends who was quite supportive of him during his imprisonment is named Robbie or Reggie (I forget which). This person is mentioned in "De Profundis," a scathing (80 pages+) letter Wilde wrote to Alfred Douglas while still in gaol, chockful of nasty (and somewhat embittered) epigrams. There is both a Robbie Ross and a Reggie (??) associated with the real life Oscar Wilde. "Lord Reggie" was a character in a real life fictional parody of Oscar Wilde (by Alfred Douglas??). Robbie Ross is the name of the other character in _Melmoth_1_. He mentions the Reggie will be arriving "tomorrow". I will be posting some more information relating to the real life Oscar Wilde next week. As soon as I make sense of it. My investigation there is beginning to sway my opinion that there may indeed be 2 Oscars in the Cerebus world. Curiouser and curiouser, My question is, "What happened to Missy?" Missy appears in 137 as part of the stuffing for a chair. jv ``Bunnies believe in deeds, not words.'' _____ | | Johnathan Vail | n1dxg@tegra.com |Tegra| (508) 663-7435 | N1DXG@448.625-(WorldNet) ----- jv@n1dxg.ampr.org {...sun!sunne ..uunet}!tegra!vail
