I've recently acquired two small turtles (they're called red siders I think) and I have a couple of questions (it's been over 18 years since I last had turtles and didn't have too great a success back then). 1) I read in my trusty encyclpedia that nearly >>all<< baby turtles die of malnutrition which hinder the hardening of the shell. I've been feeding my turtles either raw fish (they seem to love that) or this pellet stuff that soften in the water that I bought at the pet shop (they don't seem to care too much for this stuff -- it just stinks up the house). Is there anything I can do to prevent my turtles from dying this slow and cruel death? Perhaps put in some plants they might like to eat? and 2) The guy at the pet store said that there are essentially no other animals that you can put in the same tank as a turtle as they'll eat most small animals. Is this true? Has anyone out there had any great success in raising turtles? I'd like to see my turtles get to a decent size ... please help. Thanks in advance, Tom
