Does anyone know of any bugs with the UDA50/RA80 on the 750? I have a friend (decvax!mcvax!edcaad!edee!john, John Hannah, Electrical Eng, U of Edinburgh) who is not on the NEWS net, who is about to try this, and has heard from St. Andrews University that using one crashes the system, although it works fine under VMS (they have other Unibus disks, so it is not a booting problem, they say). Thanks. Jim McKie (decvax!mcvax!jim).

#R:mcvax:-166600:cmcl2:11400004:000:446 cmcl2!tihor Jan 31 18:25:00 1983 There is an outstanding hardware problem with the UDA50 on a 750 for which a FCO is being issued. VMS 3.1 contains patches to avoid using the buffered data paths when writeing into a non-longword aligned buffer. Hopefully someone at decvax can confirm this information (from the VMS 3.1 release notes), and people Berkeley and USG will let us know what in their code they suggest one change (if anything) until the FCO reaches one's machine.
