In the best of Sun gouging tradition not only is it not free but ... First you must order the new IPC software V1.2. This version runs only under Sun OS V4.0 and costs $495. However you might get in on a sale if you order it before Dec. 31 and you have software maintenance on it. Secondly, you need PCNFS V3.0. You may order an upgrade for this for only $200. For more information dial the 1-800-USA-4-SUN number and press option 6 (telemarketing). PS. Nobody really has one up and working yet as this stuff is all new. Disclaimer -- Of course these opinions are solely mine. No one in thier right mind would blaspheme Sun.

Sun has new ipc code, but it's in beta test (we are a beta test site). I can't tell you any more about it because of my contract with Sun. You might try contacting Sun's beta test coordinator yourself. Try contacting Pat Ribardiere (patr@cabin.sun.com). -jan- -- Jan L. Bill Hodgins, the Sun US Southwest Regional sales manager assured me that the SunIPC would be supported under OS4.1. --Doug Douglas Roberts Los Alamos National Laboratory (505)667-4569 dzzr@lanl.gov

IPC V1.2 comes with "extend" (like the 386i, or so I'm told), so you don't really need PC-NFS. Personally, I haven't bothered to install it.
