Under OS4.0, the kernel can be configured to support 3 high-resolution monochrome console monitors, 3 keyboards boards, and 3 mice. (to see that this is possible look at /usr/sys/sun4/conf and do a grep on dtop4). Clearly this can be VERY advantageous; it provides a very inexpensive alternative to buying diskless clients, and allows multiple users to run applications such as SPE/Lisp without swapping over the net. Has anyone tried this? Is it REALLY possible? What hardware is required to hook up three console monitors?
