I am interested in improving the L.sys entries for uucp, and would like to collect advice and input from UNIX SA's and wizards. Poll questions: (1) What is the initial speed of your dial-in ports? (2) Do your ports autobaud reliably? (3) Should L.sys entries use autobauding instead of BREAK's to step through the speed table (i.e. in:--in: vs. in:-BREAK-in:-BREAK...)? I am interested in replacing all of the BREAK sequences with autobaud entries wherever possible in the L.sys file (this has the side benefit of reducing the size of the already large L.sys file). I have yet to find an example system that answers initially at 300, and can autobaud to 1200, however it seems that all systems (with standard telco equivalent modems) that answer at 1200 can autobaud down 300. Please send your responses/suggestions to me, and thanks in advance. Gary Murakami Bell Labs - Indian Hill ihnp4!gjm
