Thanks for the many responses to this question - in summary: SunOS 4.1 supports this directly. acucntrl is not needed on a Sun, the termio interface has provision for all of this stuff. 4.3 bsd tahoe compiles and runs with a single Null pointer repair job (for the devices I need anyway). Many people have offered the diffs for various uucp implementations with 3.5. I went with the tahoe release and everything seems to be working fine. Unfortunately, this portion of the tahoe code is not PD, and therefore will only be available to machines covered under a 4.3 source license. -- Gerald Lotto - Harvard Chemistry Dept.
