I followed the discussions about getting a serial port on the Sun386i to allow dialins and dialouts with great interest. Unfortunately, that interest hasn't helped: If I turn on ttyd0 in ttytab it ties up cua0, effectively disabling any dialouts. Here's how things are set up. Perhaps someone can point out the error of my ways... The device files: crw--w--w- 1 root wheel 12, 0 Dec 19 20:34 /dev/ttyd0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 12, 128 Dec 20 10:29 /dev/cua0 The /etc/ttytab file: console "/usr/etc/getty -n std.9600" sun on secure ttyd0 "/usr/etc/getty D2400" dialup on ttyp0 none network off secure The configuration file: device zs0 at obmem ? csr 0xFC000000 flags 0x2 irq 9 priority 6 I'm using a Hayes Smartmodem 2400. Perhaps I've configured it incorrectly but it has been handling UUCP and tip for months with no problems. Any suggestions would be welcome. -David C.
