[comp.sys.sun] Scanners on Sun Workstations

In response to the individual seeking scanners for Sun Workstations...

I used to work for a company now called Calera Recognition Systems
(formerly The Palantir Corporation of Santa Clara, CA; not to be confused
with the software house from Texas).

Calera Recognition Systems
2500 Augustine Drive
Santa Clara, CA 95054

These folks specialize in OCR, both text and image processing on a single
page (one-pass). If you are considering OCR, give these folks a call,
they work well with several scanners, including one which they build.

These folks offer a SCSI-bus version of their product (which, incidently,
was developed on Sun Workstations). They have experience integrating
several scanners with Suns and/or PC's. If you are considering just image
for now, but possibly OCR in the not-so-distant future, you might want to
give them a call to save some hardware costs by some easy early planning.

Good folks there, tell them I sent you...

(p.s. Any of the above is my own recommendation and should not be
attributed to the University of California nor to Administrative
Information Systems. I no longer am an employee of Calera as well, nor
receive any compensation whatsoever for endorsing.... You get the drift.
