[comp.sys.sun] 386i with CD ROM

caruso@nmsu.edu (12/21/88)

We are considering the purchase of a 386i but need to know if a CD ROM can
be attached via the AT bus. Has anybody had experience with this that
they can pass on?

On the same note, does anybody know of a CD ROM system that could be
attached via SCSI to a 3/60? I haven't heard of such a system, but it
would provide a nicer solution for us.

Please e-mail responses. I will summarize. Thank you.

I would recommend that you contact Delta Microsystems in Livermore CA.
Their phone # is (415) 449-6881.

We have a product based on the 386i that uses a SCSI WORM drive. Delta
Microsystems developed the driver and support tools. I think they have a
very good product and quality support people. We also have purchased
SCSI-based 8 mm tape system from them which works pretty well.
