[net.unix-wizards] Info wanted on 4800/9600 baud modems

I need to run some graphics equipment from a remote location, and
therefore need a 4800 baud or faster modem for use over the telephone
network.  Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for
	- what modems are available
	- reliability and line noise
	- other problems I should anticipate?
