In the great quest to upgrade the memory in our 386i 25Mhz machines without paying Suns high prices for memory I've been trying to figure out what speed memory is actually required for the machine. Sun at first said 80ns but then waivered when asked about the speed of the modules they actually shipped in the machines. Third party vendors vary - those that seem to do the most Sun products say ay 100ns will work. The part numbers for the modules themselves and the chips on them taken off of several Sun RR250's are: Modlue : NEC MC-42100000A9B-10 Chip: NEC 4210000-10 Module : HB56A19B-10s chip : HM51000JP10s (Hitachi) These parts seem to have numbers that indicate they are only rated for 100ns operation. Does anyone no what speed rams are required? If 80 ns is required how can Sun ship these parts, if they are in fact 100ns chips? Peter Collins Computer Automation ..arizona!catuc!peter
