[net.unix-wizards] ^T for UNIX

mike@Brl-Vgr.ARPA (03/28/83)

From:      Mike Muuss <mike@Brl-Vgr.ARPA>

We have had ^T on our PDP-11 unixes for years, and will be adding
it to our BSD unix as well. Mods to the list (and to Berkeley)
in a few days.

Not only is ^T a good nervous habit, but it also makes novice users
feel more secure. One of the most frustrating things to a novice is
to run, say, "cat", and sit and wait forever. They correct their own
error (and usually learn what the error was) if they see

	$ cat
	^T
	1942 (53,33) TTYI

TTY driver purists can, of course, stick to their @ and # signs.
				Cheers,
