[net.unix-wizards] TU78 and 4.1BSD

vmunix works fine with the TU78; it is only the standalone programs
(the bootstrap, mkfs, and restor) which may give trouble. The reason
is that there is a hardware bug in the TU78 which affects the done
bit in the status register (polled by the standalone monitor) but
not the done interrupt (used by the vmunix kernel). When Berkelely
found out about this they started sending out tapes corrected to work
on the TU78, but due to an administrative mixup there, some of the
recent tapes are right and some are wrong, fairly randomly. If your
tape doesn't work, (1) ask around among the 4.1 sites near you and
borrow all their boot tapes; (2) call Berkeley and tell them to send
you another one and make sure it has the TU78 fix.
