Does anyone out there know when about 4.0.2 or 4.1 will come out ? SUN, are you listening ? I finally got the impression that one can't really mix 4.0 with 3.3 (and I still hear people having problems with mixing 4.0 and 3.[45]) -- mostly booting & nfs/yp problems. Why can't you have a pure 4.0 net you may say ? Well, I still have a bunch of 3/50's around and 4.0 will basically grind my 50's to a halt espeically if I still want to use suntools. If 4.0 weren't so sloooow on the 50's (or any 4meg machines as a matter of fact), I'll be more than happy to have a pure 4.0 net. Well, why can't you just have a pure 3.[345] net you might ask ? Well, I can but I've a 4/280 server (NFS & YP) coming and that means that I can either use 4.0 or Sys4-3.2. But with Sys4-3.2 I can't get outside Princeton because the stinking Sys4-3.2 doesn't support subnetting. Why didn't Sun think about this first ? It really stinks !! -- regards. -eric-
