I have problems getting netgroup (Section 5 of the Manual) to work on our Sun. We have a standalone Sun3/160 (hostname host1, say) running SunOS3.5. I tried creating a file /etc/netgroup (on host1) with the following entry: remoteuser (host2,user1,) Next, I created the file /etc/hosts.equiv (on host1) with the following entry: +@remoteuser The appropriate entry in /etc/hosts (on host1) is: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx host2.ece.uc.edu host2 1. The username user1 exists on both host1 and host2. On attempting "rlogin host1" from host2, host1 prompted for a password (it shouldn't have, if netgroup was working properly). 2. On replacing +@remoteuser by host2.ece.uc.edu in hosts.equiv, all users having same usernames on host1 and host2 could execute rlogins from host2 to host1 without being prompted for a password. 3. I even tried entering "remoteuser (host2.ece.uc.edu,user1,)" and "remoteuser (host2,user1,ece.uc.edu)" in the file /etc/netgroup, but to no avail. How can I get netgroup working? Please reply by email. Thanks, Atul Atul K.
