[comp.sys.sun] Plea for HELP with dbx/dbxtool problem

charlie@uunet.uu.net (Charlie Goldensher) (04/27/89)

A friend/colleague of mine is having a problem with dbxtool that is
confusing and extremely frustrating. At least three people around here
have, at one time or another, had this problem. In each case (except the
present), the problem seems to have gone away after some time (usually
several weeks to a couple of months) with no apparent explanation. If
*anyone* knows of a solution, *please* help.

I could successfully stop in a function by the 'stop in' command.
(For example "stop in main" worked.)

But if I tried to stop at a specific line using the 'stop at' command,
EVEN THE LINE THAT DBX STOPPED AT FROM THE 'STOP IN' CMD,
I got a message of the form

no executable code at line "/usr/develop/main/interpmain.c":62

Does anyone know how to fix it?

(The only thing I could think of was that the source and object were
out of sync. I don't think that was the problem. But even if it were,
wouldn't I at least be able to stop at a given breakpoint?
Anyway, I recompiled and re-linked and still had the same problem.)
