One big problem with DEC equipment is that it typically uses a rather slow ethernet ineterface. This has been evidenced in the past by VAX's choking on frequent broadcasts. One way to get around the VAX-as-server problem is to squash the write- packet size down to something like 2048 ("wsize=2048" as a mount option) and perhaps to increase the timeout to 20 ("timeo=20", hwere the default is 7) sam
