RE: My message of 01 April 1983, titled "Unix DBMSs"
I continue to receive a small but steady stream of names of data-
base systems running under Unix. In most cases I have only the
product name and a contact and have had to call the vendor for
technical details. The product data sheets are trickling in
slowly.
Several of the respondents stated they were on the verge of mak-
ing a decision regarding a DBMS and were most anxious to learn
the results of my survey. I hesitate to finalize that survey so
long as new names are coming in with reasonable frequency and I
have so few technical details for most of the systems. Instead,
I have listed below the names of the Unix-based DBMSs I am aware
of and at least one point-of-contact for each systems. With the
possible exception of the last two items on the list, all these
systems are purported to be relational DBMSs.
Berkeley Ingres
Comes with 4.x bsd Unix. No contact.
