Hello SUNNERS, I need some utilities to some tape reading/writing What am I looking for is: - READ/WRITE IBM-MVS partitioned file tapes. 1/2" Reel tapes I bungled with dd which worked partially, the problem is when i write a tape with : `dd if=infile obs=4000 cbs=80 conv=ebcdic of=/dev/nrmt0` I cannot read the tape with obs=4000 on the IBM but it can be read with obs=5120 , which in fact is the limit blocksize before a 'LONG TAPE'. While reading unformatted tapes back from the IBM on our SUN4/280, I can retrieve the files but they seemed to be messed up between tape files. I don't know why the IBM looks at the tape as a 5120 blocked tape. Also it is rather difficult to retrieve files written on a SUN on a IBM made with 'dd' - READ/WRITE VAX/VMS/RSX FILES-11 Tapes. this is very urgent because we do have a lot of VAX/VMS & PDP-11 systems Other DEC format tape utils are also welcome. Anyone with such beasties in /var/tmp ?? ;-) Greetings Marcel Bernards, UNIX & Net sysadm Netherlands Energy Research Foundation ECN P.O. "ansitar" handles RT-11 tapes nicely. I've looked, but can't find it in any archive (even washington.edu--where it was originally written.) Anybody know where to get it?
