I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, but I must have missed the answers. Does anyone have a successful configuration for Telebit Trailblazer Plus modem for a SUN3 running SunOS 4.0? I'm having a devil of a time getting uucico and tip to accept it. They keep choking on the extended RRING code. Any attempts to shut off extended codes results in speed fallbacks. If you think there has been too much news traffic on this subject, then mail me directly. Thanks, Greg Gilley gilley@ndl.com || mcnc!rti!ndl!gilley 919-929-2917 (voice) -----------------------

Our TB+ is connected to an ALM I port on our 3/280, running OS 4.0.1 + the serial patch tape (yapt 5.5). It works great for tip & uucp. The settings as reported by "at&n" are: E1 F1 M1 Q0 T V1 X0 Version BA4.00 S00=001 S01=000 S02=043 S03=013 S04=010 S05=008 S06=002 S07=040 S08=002 S09=006 S10=007 S11=070 S12=050 S45=000 S47=004 S48=000 S49=000 S50=000 S51=255 S52=002 S53=001 S54=002 S55=000 S56=017 S57=019 S58=003 S59=000 S60=000 S61=250 S62=003 S63=001 S64=000 S65=000 S66=000 S67=000 S68=255 S90=000 S91=000 S92=000 S95=000 S100=000 S101=000 S102=000 S104=000 S110=255 S111=255 S112=001 S121=000 Steve Jay domain: shj@ultra.com Ultra Network Technologies Internet: ultra!shj@ames.arc.nasa.gov 101 Daggett Drive uucp: ...ames!ultra!shj San Jose, CA 95134 408-922-0100

With S50=0 and S52=2, it refuses to answer the phone. I've noticed that when uucico exits, the DTR light on the front of the TB goes out. So the Sun isn't supplying DTR, so the modem won't answer incoming calls. Right now I have the modem configured to S50=255, S52=0 (PEP mode only, assume DTR is always on), so it will answer high-speed calls from uunet. I would like to be able to use it for 2400 baud calls as well. How can I either make the Trailblazer answer calls with DTR low, or force the Sun 3 to toggle DTR low when uucico exits, then raise it again? Any help will be very much appreciated. I ran into this when uunet informed me that the modem didn't answer for 24 hours after I installed it. Sigh.
