I've come across what appears to be a problem with running the syslogd and sendmail. The configuration is a SUN 4/110 or 4/260 running SUN OS4.0.1. When we run syslogd, then execute sendmail, syslog receives repeated messages consisting of the following three messages. The dates remain the same, so it is definitely the same messages being repeated. --- messages received by syslogd --- logmsg: pri 26, flags 0, from eds, msg May 31 15:46:30 sendmail[5241]: AA05241: from=root, size=5, class=0 Logging to FORW loghost readfds = 0x38 got a message (1, 0x10) cvthname(192.9.208.1) logmsg: pri 26, flags 0, from eds, msg May 31 15:46:31 sendmail[5243]: AA05241: to=root, delay=00:00:03, stat=Sent Logging to FORW loghost readfds = 0x38 got a message (1, 0x10) cvthname(192.9.208.1) logmsg: pri 26, flags 0, from eds, msg May 31 15:46:30 sendmail[5241]: AA05241: message-id=<8905311946.AA05241@eds.> Logging to FORW loghost readfds = 0x38 got a message (1, 0x10) cvthname(192.9.208.1) --- end of messages --- The messages seem to be correctly delivered, I'm not sure why it wants to repeatedly send them. Any help as to why they're being generated would help a great deal. thanks in advance. -- Ted Roberts | My opinions are not necessarily those EDS Technical Systems Development | of my employer.
