Will the kernel of release 4.2 or even 5.0 support cheap multiprocessors desktops (when they do arrive) so that when I've more money to spend then I can go out and buy and few more cpus (& maybe more RAMs), plug them into my desktop and assign a few cpus to 2 or 3 windows where I'm running/compiling several heavyweights and assign one or two for my code development/debugging and maybe one to two for general purpose use. I can of course assign jobs to other nodes on the net but then those other nodes are used by others in the lab and I'm not sure if they're pleased to have those heavyweights banging on their nodes. Well, I just hope that it'll be general enough that can meet different unique needs (e.g if you don't have enough money now then just get one cpu and when you've more money later then buy more cpus). This will change the Unix semantics somewhat but it'll give people more choices I think. Eric Ho Cognitive Science Lab., Princeton University email = eho@bogey.princeton.edu voice = 609-987-2819 --
