In response to Andrew Markham: > What we are now wondering is whether or not we can use this SUN4 as our > dedicated server for AppleShare... Of course, and it need not be "dedicated" as a real AppleShare server is. We have SUN4s and SUN3s serving MACs. All of the major MAC software appears to work just fine under the TOPS environment. In fact, TOPS reports a near perfect success rate. Of course, some programs are will not run in a shared environment, but they fail under AppleShare also. As far as speed goes, I haven't noticed a significant hit. Most MAC programs insist on memory residency anyway, so the initial file access is no big deal. Of course, this varies according to the application, but we have no complaints thus far. All in all, SUN file space looks exactly like a local disk to the MAC. Jeff
